Montesori Approach

The Montessori classroom provides a rich environment with materials that make all the concepts mentioned below tangible for students. This will serve as touchstones in their memory for years to come. The classroom materials are fun to manipulate allowing the children to learn by discovery rather than being told.

 

SENSORIAL AREA:
invites exploration and refines the child's senses, visual, chromatic, kinesthetic, auditory and tactile discrimination exercises are found in this area.
 
LANGUAGE AREA:
introduces the children to the phonetic sounds of letters. The teachers first introduce the children to these sounds by using sandpaper letters. After the child learns the sounds, he/she is ready to begin sounding out words with the movable alphabet.
MATH AREA:
provides the association of symbol and quantity. the children will learn the concepts of sequencing, addition and subtraction, the decimal system, and skip counting by actuallydoing the operations with concrete materials.
